THE VISIONS OF THE ANOINTED

They say life doesn't ask what we want,it presents us with options.Options to prosper or to fail.Options to rule or to be ruled.Options to design our destiny or to leave it  designed for us.Options to think or to "accept" ready-made ideas. Thus life is "democratic".

It lets us "govern" ourselves. With these options we can choose to be problem solvers or mere creators of problems. We can choose to sit back and wait for others to jump on board or we go to the front line and provide guidance. We can choose to be producers or consumers.

All these are doable. They happen and can still happen with you! Out of these options come out men and women with visions. And I think every person is visionary because these options are not confined to a group of individuals or a cable of personalities. They are at everyone's disposal.

The act of "anointing" personalities is thus a mere transfer of responsibility to weigh the options of life. It is symbolic in that it signifies our will to follow the directions of a certain individual or group of people.

The bottom line is that they are connected to us by the virtue of sharing life with the same options. This interconnectedness removes the spirit of separateness or the I'm-here-he-is-there-philosophy. These anointed personalities are therefore supposed to be linked to everybody. They ought to overcome the I'm-the-boss-mentality. They should be reachable. With this in place I believe nothing will stand on the way of progress of people.

I write this piece as a continuation of my previous article titled "A conflict of visions".

Why should I dwell much on this? Because life is made tougher by "small things". They are small because we overlook them - deliberately or  by the virtue of social orientation. Deliberately in the sense that we feel "different" from others. We feel not obliged to intervene. We feel that certain roles belong to certain people. We feel that we are comfortable in our localities.

We have perfected the understanding of this maxim,"everyone for himself God for us all!" Methinks this is fallacy hidden in words. It is total fallacy because no one exists on his own. We exist as a related body of people sharing the same beginning and the same destiny. Even animals know each other. They live in harmony and communion with fellow animals. This is the basis on which human beings live.

I must point out some issues that go out unnoticed but whose implications are collectively shared by all of us. We don't feel this burden because we've "configured" our minds to believe that it doesn't concern us.

You live in a municipality that is as filthy as hell. You complain that your trash and wastes are not collected. Reason? There is no vehicle to fetch these wastes for disposal. But on the other side of the street you see your mayor being chauffeured in a brand new fuel guzzler purchased by the municipality.

What can you say about this? Is this really the anointed visionary leader whose "subjects" are looking up to for guidance and leadership?......Who should fix this? It is you and me.And we can only fix these issues when we are fully informed of our roles and place in the society.

Move out and look for this information. Stop locking yourself within the confines of your village and neighborhood and expecting new results. This is reminiscent of playing the same music to your audience and expecting them to dance differently.
