A CONFLICT OF VISIONS

Visions are felt. They can bring positive change or a calamity. They are normally a "response" to a certain problem, challenge or issue.Visions are thus the link between the present/past and the future.A conflict of visions maybe  as a result of social demand;the act of trying to satisfy what the populace demand. It may also be the result we get when the aspirations of an individual precede those of the populace -the act of "eating" what belongs to the populace. This "eating" can be direct or indirect depending on the mode and the terms used to describe it.A conflict of visions can either be destructive or constructive. It could also be both -destructive to one party and  constructive to the other.A conflict of visions may also be a sign of social frustration and mistrust with the governing elite.

On matters of development the demands and aspirations of the population reign supreme. These demands and aspirations are the foundations from which their visions are anchored. They "see" their future through the "lenses" of their challenges.Any right-thinking person or entity is obliged to play by these rules.I think it is a requirement for any  person to know this.It doesn't demand much.Only your respect and goodwill.

You may say I'm crude on this!I don't know, it is upon the public to judge me on that.Look at this- a non-governmental organization, well-funded and whose pledge is to "empower" people comes in with an army of "officers" to "empower" the people. They say their target is to raise the living standards of the locals. But a cursory analysis of their expenditure gives a dull picture. How do you see this-what is of importance;sponsoring one post-graduate student to the best university on earth or building a classroom for needy kids?Distributing uniforms whose transportation cost outweighs production cost or training locals to be producers of such uniforms?.....What is the economic importance of employing a whole village under the pretext of offering job opportunities or using the money in ventures that create employment? These are conflicts of visions. And it is upon us all to rise up and say no to this!

It is  for the best interest of all for dialogue to exist.Human beings are creatures of conscience. They are always creative. They have answers to their challenges. What might be lacking is the "energy" to activate these answers. But there is no way we can get these answers if we don't embrace dialogue as a means of exchanging ideas and feelings.Dialogue is a fundamental aspect of development.Anyone who doesn't appreciate this is reducing the masses to the level of things -that don't think and thus don't have anything meaningful to contribute. And this is what breeds a conflict of visions.Chase it!
